The Shoe Tree Program is partnered with Cumberland Community School District #77 to provide a pair of tennis shoes and multiple pairs of socks to every qualified, in-need, K-12 student to start the school year. Typically, sign-up begins in the spring at the school. The Shoe Tree Program then begins shopping for the appropriate sizes during the summer. Bundles containing the shoes and socks are created for each student and distributed to the participating students before the first day of classes. We provide shoe/sock bundles to in-need children at Christmas. This ensures that everyone has something under the tree. We conduct a second sign-up in January with distribution in February. This provides shoes and socks to in-need students throughout the school year.
We will be providing over 300 bundles to low-income, in-need students throughout the year. These bundles have a huge positive impact on these students academically, personally, and emotionally. It is difficult to be successful academically, achieving the learning goals, when your basic life needs are not being met.
Every child matters. Help us ensure that every child has an opportunity to be successful. The need is real!
